Low Price Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I tried an ASUS EEE netbook but was not impressed with the quality, speed and touchpad functionality. The Samsung NC10 netbook meets all of my needs. It is fast, the keyboard is easy to type on and the battery life is around 5 to 6 hours due to its 6-cell battery. It boots very quickly. I use it mostly while watching tv but its light weight and size makes yanking it out of my briefcase at the airport scanner much easier.

The only small complaint I have is that the mousepad could stand to be a bit bigger as it is easy to run out of real estate when moving the cursor around. However, I do really like the scroll area on right side of the pad and the pinch function (makes font size bigger or smaller).

Overall, I would highly recommend this laptop over the cheaper netbooks out there.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I did a very extensive comparison of the features of netbooks and chose the NC10 (in black) because: 1) the battery life is rated at 8 hours, even with heavy applications it lasts 7.5 hours; 2) the solid state disk drive is more stable than drives that have spinning components; 3) the keyboard is 93% the size of a standard keyboard and I needed this because I touch type; 4) the screen is 10 inches plus which is the right size; 5) it is VERY easy to change the "screen RAM" from 1GB to 2GB and Samsung makes this easy by providing an easy to open screw off panel on the bottom of the computer; and 6) it weighs 3 lbs. and fits on a classroom desk (I am taking some courses and this is perfect for using in class). The NC10 lasts so long I often take it to work without the power cord. Also, if a 12 cell battery comes out later, the battery life could double!

One of the most important features to me is the trackpad setup. Many netbooks try to squeeze in the trackpad by putting the left and right click buttons on the LEFT and RIGHT which makes them VERY hard to use. The NC10 has the clickbar immediately below the trackpad like any standard laptop which makes it something familiar and easy to use.

A few tips: I got the case from Amazon.com, and the 2GB Screen RAM upgrade (it's really easy to install, REALLY - just unscrew the rectangular panel on the back - you can find instructions on the Internet showing how to do this). I also bought an EXTERNAL DISK DRIVE to run CD based software.

I currently run this software on my Netbook: Microsoft Office 7; Sharepoint; Outlook; Photoshop; Adobe Reader; Macafee security software (a trial setup comes with the computer); Adobe In-Design; and several other large programs. I use my Netbook to write papers for classes, to resize photos and images for documents including reports and brochures. None of these programs slows down the computer speed. I routinely check my AOL and Outlook accounts, very quickly. This computer has replaced a much larger portable laptop I've been using.

Yesterday I used the computer all day long to take notes in a conference. After a FULL DAY of notetaking, with the computer on all day, I still had more than 4 hours remaining on the battery. The secret is dimming the screen and setting the energy saving settings to "1" which is minimum (when you type or interact with the computer, the screen brightens). I am now confident in my NC10 to use it to write documents for publication including a book manuscript. I highly recommend it and suggest you look at the NC10 before buying any netbook. If you get one, I'm sure you'll confirm the features I mentioned and oh, one more thing, at under $500, the price is great.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
