Lowest Price Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I travel a couple of times a year and dragging my 17" laptop was a pain. I carried it around the airport in a backpack, and after a while it got very heavy. I tried a rolling case for it, but it was so big, I couldn't fit it under the seat and leave any room for my feet. I'm a student and I only need it to check my email, work on homework, and check in on online classes while I'm gone. This little netbook is perfect for that. I'm not trying to run any big apps on it, and I notice no lag in performance at all. It's fast and efficient, the keyboard is larger than other netbooks I tried, and the battery life is amazing.

An added bonus is the built in webcam. I use it to video chat with my family in Texas, and the video and audio quality is about equal to my set up on my desktop pc.

Very happy - even showed it to a friend who just ordered one from Amazon today!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Low Price Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I replaced my Dell Latitude tablet with this Samsung notebook because I wanted a compact and lightweight laptop with at least 6 hours battery life. I am very pleased with this little guy. The size is great, the screen size, although small, is still larger than its Acer counterpart.

First, I immediately upgraded from 1GB to 2GB with memory I purchased on Amazon (another review), and also installed MS Office 2003. As far as for RAM, I have no problem running my MS Office Apps and toggling back and forth on the internet. Prior to this purchase, I have always owned Dell notebooks and desktops; however, this is by far the easiest to update using Samsung's update application. The only thing I did not like was how the built-in software partitioned the harddrive from 1 160GB to 2 80GB drives (C+D). Other than that, I am pleased that the netbook works as intended and the battery life is great. I average about 6 hours easily (not sure about the 8hrs advertised). Save Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

Now I own three netbooks; Acer, Hp, and Samsung. Trust me, this is the fastest netbook and its really easy to use. It doesn't feel too cheap like Acer and it is as fast as Hp. When it comes to netbooks, most of them have the same specs, yet nc10 feels the fastest with all the programs installed. The NC10 has many advantages: relatively good keyboard, excellent wireless connection, light weight, bright screen, good battery life (5 hours and 20 minutes in normal mode), good customer service, and responsive processor. But the trackpad, even after adjustments, remains a key problem (I do not use an external mouse because it would defeat the purpose of buying a netbook). This is the main flaw of the machine. It is difficult to understand why Samsung has not made the trackpad larger and better. Users should be able to use the scrolling area to move the mouse if the vertical and horizontal scrolling is disabled (a Samsung tech person told me that it is not possible). I hope that Samsung will offer a new NC10 model, which could be perfect. All netbooks (I also have an ASUS 1000H) seem to have one or more weaknesses that could be easily remedied with better design (wrong shift key placement in the case of the 1000H). Additional improvements I would like to see on the NC10 (I relayed these comments to Samsung) include: a slightly larger backspace key, an optional 1024 x 768 resolution to install software that requires that resolution (the ASUS 1000H has this particular feature), and a small light on the charger so that we know it is on. Overall, the NC10 is a good unit, but it can be made better.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheap Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

Here are my thought after a few weeks with the Samsung NC-10. I was on the road a whole week with multiple plane rides and hotel networks to connect to. I debated between the Lenovo S10, Wind and 1000H. Even though all of the other choices were cheaper, I chose the Samsung for its keyboard and battery life.

1. The keyboard feels good and is not too small. I haven't had to type anything too long, so it's been ok.
2. It's peppy. It's run everything I have thrown at it except a 29mb Sketchup model. Even the quad core desktop with 3 gb of RAM didn't like it. so I won't be trying to run that again. Adobe elements run fine on it with some smaller photos. However the size of the trackpad limits the detail I can do.
3. Watched over 4 hours of avi files off of SD card on the plane. I was at full brightness, I know I could have run it leaner at lower brightness for longer battery life. I got about 5 hours on that trip, again, had the full brightness on.
4. It's light, but not featherweight at 3 lbs.
5. Solid build, the glossy back is a fingerprint magnet, if you care about that.
6. I did install XP Pro over the partitions.
7. Wireless has been flawless and have had no trouble with it.
8. The webcam is very good for skyping.
9. I've heard Windows 7 runs very well on it.
10. I upgraded to 2gb RAM and it was a 5 minute task.

NOTE:
1. If you decide to repartition the 160gb drive and delete the Samsung recovery partition, there is no way to get it back later.
2. You cannot boot from the SD reader.
3. It only has a SD reader, no CF, no MS etc.

I think the bottom line is that most netbooks are so close in specs that very few things set them apart from one another. Samsung was known for its battery endurance and keyboard comfort. Those two were critically important to me in how I use would use it and why I chose it over the Wind or 1000H. Overall, I'm happy with it.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Buying Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I purchased this capable, small netbook about a month ago--for travel, and as an "extra" computer for times when my wife and I are both in need of a computer at the same time. Since then I've used it daily.

One of my main concerns was ergonomic: would the keyboard feel familiar to me (I'm a fast touch typist). I find the keyboard to be comfortable, and as fast as I need. I like having a little cluster (lower right side) of arrow keys, as well as page up/ page down.

The screen, though just 10", is very, very bright, with excellent resolution--I used it mostly outdoors on my trip--and it's easy to work with, even on a bright day. I can't judge the processor speed (I'm not technical) but we watched video of the inauguration on it (no English coverage where we were) and it pulled in the video-cast of CNN no problem.

The battery life is double that of any laptop I've ever used--or more. If you charge this machine at night (it takes under an hour to fully charge) you can work on it all day without plugging it in.

This machine has two weaknesses that may or may not be serious, depending on where and how you use it. It's WiFi reception is slightly weaker than my Dell full-sized laptop--not a problem for many people, probably, but the difference is enough to make the machine unable to connect to the internet in my kithcen (where I like to work) at the very fringe of my other laptop's range. And on my trip I stayed in a place where I'm used to picking an unsecured network from the neighboring house: this laptop couldn't quite pull it in. At other sites (Starbuck's, etc.) it's just fine.

The second weakness is that the touchpad is too small for all the functions that it has. The "pinch" function is very useful when you want to enlarge a piece of a ms. you're working on--but on such a small touch pad it can be difficult to control. Even the scroll function on the right side of the touchpad (or, it can be moved to the bottom) can kick in annoyingly when you don't want it, because the pad is small. I've dealt with this issue by simply disabling the "pinch function" and sometimes the scroll function, and simply using the touch pad without any other features--and then it's fine.

I think the HP netbook has a slightly bigger feeling keyboard and bigger touch pad--but this machine has far better battery capacity. It's also heavier by perhaps 6-8 ounces because of the six-cell battery, but I found it a delight to carry around, compared to a full-sized laptop.

Finally, it seems to be very well constructed; and it's attractive with its glossy dark-blue finish. The (imitation?) leather carrying case is all you need to wipe off finger prints and shine it up. Some have complained about fan noise, but the fan seems to be extremely quiet, almost inaudible. It hasn't crashed, but I suspect that the feature that enables you to use one half the drive to keep a mirror image of your operating system and files would be useful, if it did crash. With the few caveats above, I'd recommend this machine.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Buy Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I'm very impressed with the NC-10. Set-up was easy. Got my Skype and Roboform loaded and up-graded the software and I was off to the races.
The blue color is very appealing and the size is perfect for a lap and easy chair. Battery life is impressive and it runs cool -- no hot thighs.
It's also very quiet and the large keyboard is a nice break from my iPhone.
The response is also a surprise - quick boot-up and strong WiFi connection.
If you're looking for a portable internet connection, this is your ticket.
Oh yes, 160GB give you a very nice closet. 1GB of RAM, $20 will get you 2. Highly Recommend.

Purchase Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I would start off to say that the Samsung NC10 is a fine computer. The only problem I have encounterd was the monitor screen. My first order the screen was scratched badly. I sent it back. Ordered another Samsung NC10, the screen on this one had dark shadows on it. So I sent it back, ordered another one Samsung NC10. The first thing I did was check the monitor screen, guess what? It to was scratched. So I gave up on this product until they get their quality control people back to work. I could not give any stars at this time. If the monitor screen had been normal, I would have given this product five stars. Anyone buying this product should check out the monitor screen carefully.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Order Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I purchased this little guy about a month ago. I work in IT and do a lot of things with computers and networking. My previous laptop that was big and bulky, cost me about $1600. The NC10 does almost everything that old laptop did, with more disk space to do it. The only things it has trouble with are highly graphical games like EVE Online. The game runs fine, and you can even play most of it, but doing battle with more then one other ship is not recommended since the calculations will tax the CPU and GPU.

I have also upgraded it with the Crucial 2GB memory available here on Amazon. The memory works great, as usually expected from Crucial. As other posters have mentioned, it won't void your warranty, but any memory-related issues will not be under warranty (which makes sense).

I also installed the latest version of VMware Server on it, which runs as a service in the background, and have spun up several VMs including one to test Windows 7! I currently run Ubuntu Server Edition in a VM and you wouldn't even know it was running unless I told you (or you knew what process to look for).

The laptop also goes in to sleep mode quickly, and comes out of sleep lightning fast (sub 2sec). Hibernate also works quickly as the disk IO is very good. The disk in mine is a Toshiba MK1652GSX and has an average read speed of 52.5MB/s bursting to 101.8MB/s.

Samsung uses a few different disks, my previous one was a Fujitsu, which brings us to the next part of this....

A bit of a story. This is the second NC10 I've purchased. The first one I was carrying around with me on Superbowl Sunday. I was picking up some friends at their house and had to make some room in the back seat of my car. I placed the NC10 on the roof above the back seat door and moved things around. She sat down, I closed the door, walked to the drivers side, and drove away. The NC10 and its power supply were sitting on the roof for a little while, but fell off. We found the power supply, but not the NC10, so someone was happy for about 7 hours hehe. Anyway, it just goes to show how much I like this little thing, I bought it twice!

The only reason not to buy this, is if you just want to save money. If you have the money, buy this one, its worth it. It is a very well-built device and I trust it to give me years of service. I did a lot of research before deciding which netbook or laptop to purchase. My previous one was in my car, parked on the side of the road, when it got rear-ended on the interstate. My car was totaled, the NC10 got thrown around, but still ran fine up until I lost it :)

Where To Buy Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I've read every review on this product on Amazon before I made the decision. I don't want to list pros/cons here again. Just want to tell my experience.

This little baby is everything I want. Very fast, super quiet. I don't want a big laptop anymore. I want to tell my manager "Save your two thousand dollars, all I want is a netook, a samsung netook". My intended use of the netbook is for leisure activities, youtube, slingmedia, email, web surfing, and maybe(A remote distant maybe) some light office duty. Basically, a computer to distract me when I visit the bathroom. :-D

So far, I've installed and tried:
1. Google two finger scroll software and followed someone's online instruction which disables a whole bunch features of the finger pad. After that, it's natural, intuitive and with plenty room.
2. Mounted my desktop DVD/CD drive on the home network and use it to install office 2007. Everything works great, lightening fast.
3. Installed google pack, pctool doc and Norton are the things I want. I tried google earth. The motion and graph is nice and smooth.
4. Installed sling player. how nice it is to play video on this baby, smooth and crystal clear.
5. I'm very afraid of the blue blotch issue. So the first thing I tried is to download a screen test program. Tried everything there. The screen is nice, bright and defect free. Beautiful.
6. When I started initializing the machine, I zeroed out D drive and left everything for C. Who cares about backup and restore on this machine. This is my bathroom machine. If it's gone bad, I'll just install everything again.
7. Someone here complained the network connection. In my try-out, I got excellent connection. The wifi network wizard picks more networks in the neighborhood than my laptop and desktop(Installed PCI wifi g card).
8. Watching netflix instantly play, youtube, hulu, etc, excellent experience.
9. I thought the speaker might be weak as someone mentioned. But I guess that person is deaf or at least hearing damaged. Plenty volume for me.
10. After installed everything, I replaced the 1GB dimm with 2GB. I have to say honestly that I didn't notice any speedup. If you don't want to spend the extra 20 dollars, you might just as well save it, in my opinion.
11. The keyboard is plenty big. My typing is adjusted right away. Great.
12. This is a very well engineered machine. solid, quiet and engineers pay attention to details.

In all, this netbook is a natural for me. No single one thing uncomfortable to use.

Netbook is the future!!!

Shop For Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

about a week after getting this netbook, i upgraded the ram to 2 gigs (but not sure if it really needs it). i've been using it nightly after work when i get home to check email and do some web surfing...all while on my couch and watching tv. i can go 4 to 5 nights without charging since it comes with a 6-cell battery standard, giving a rated 6+ hours usage before it has to be recharged. i've also purchased gps hardware and software for use on this netbook. it's fantastic to have a large 10" screen instead of a small 3" screen from a dedicated gps device. i haven't tried to use this as an ebook reader because i already own a dedicated ebook reader. but i'm sure it will serve that purpose as well. the size makes it very convenient when i have to tote it to starbucks or on one occasion, to a friends house to diagnose some computer network problems at his house. i'm very happy i bought this netbook.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

UPDATE:

I recently bought a Microsoft Bluetooth wireless mouse for $39 at Frys Electronics for this device. This little mouse works well, and doesn't tie up any USB ports, which is a plus.

A minor gripe I have is when you insert an SD memory card, the card will stick out noticeably, and is not flush with the device. I wish the SD card would go in all the way, but since it doesn't, I don't like to keep the card inside.

I still have only the original 1GB of memory out of the box, and even after installing many, many programs, including Photoshop 7.0, this device still runs well on 1GB of memory. I'm debating whether I really need 2GB of memory at this point.

When you tweak the built-in speaker settings (example: "Living Room" "Powerful", "Bass", etc) this really makes a difference in sound quality both from the built-in external speakers, as well as using headphones. When using only the built-in external speakers, the sound volume is plenty loud enough after making said adjustments. By the way, I think I have the "Karaoke" setting at Zero, which may make a difference.

I ended up buying (yet another) carry case for this netbook. I got one made for DVD players (for screen size 7-10") which has shoulder straps, and is a bit thicker with extra pockets for more stuff (eg: packing my external DVD burner). Got this bag for around $30 from Frys Electronics. Don't remember the brand name at the moment. Go check out the DVD player section at Frys.

This Samsung netbook is really built well. I'm happy with this device. It's worth the extra cost compared to other current netbooks.

I bought the white version Samsung NC10 at a local store for $459.99 after reading all the rave reviews on this website. I also bought a white color LiteOn external DVD writer to go with the netbook for $90.00. I was almost going to buy this netbook through Amazon for a lower price (and in black color), but in the end, I couldn't get myself to buy a netbook sight unseen without having tried it out personally. A local retailer had a display Samsung NC10 model for me to play with and compare against other competing models. In the end, I chose the Samsung model over the Lenovo, Acer, and Asus models. What peeved me about some of the other models is the right shift key being "out of place" as so many others have pointed out. I am a fast typist at over 60 words per minute, so I can really appreciate a good keyboard, which I find the Samsung NC10 to have. Plus, I held the Samsung in my hands, and found it to be built very solid. This is truly built very well in terms of sturdiness, and I get a sense that this will hold up to future wear and tear with no problem. I also wanted to get the Samsung NC10 for its rave reviews on long battery life. Yes, I too have found this to be true. When I click on the battery icon, it shows over 6 hours of life when fully charged (at the Normal brightness setting, less life if at the Maximum brightness setting). The screen is very bright and sharp, and I can easily see the screen even if viewed off to the sides. Even better, I don't see any screen imperfection at all on my model, none of the "blotches" at bottom of screen as some have reported, nor any dead pixels, nor any scratches whatsoever. I'm a bit anal about having a clean screen, so I'm happy my screen is just fine right out of the box. I find the Samsung NC10 to be very responsive and quick, even with the standard 1GB of RAM memory. I was tempted to buy additional memory at the time of purchase at the store, but I was curious to see how responsive the device would be at 1GB of memory after I've installed all my various software. I have loaded lots of software, and just recently installed Photoshop 7.0 too. Surprisingly, Photoshop runs pretty quickly on this machine! Even my favorite Photoshop plugin filters such as NIK Efex 2.0, NIK Sharpener, Dfine, iCorrect, all run pretty quickly too. Additionally, I also have various image browsers loaded such as NikonView, BreezeBrowser, ACDSee, and these all work quickly without problems. I also have various compressed video files installed, such as Star Wars, etc, and videos appear to run pretty smoothly. Even sound quality is pretty decent too, given its small size. I can hear the volume pretty well on my machine, so I don't know why others are complaining their volume is too low. I'm actually using this netbook as a complete laptop, not just simply for surfing the internet. Regarding the internet, I have found the Samsung NC10 to work very well for suring the internet. Currently, I'm using my netbook with a Sprint Sierra wireless USB card, and I'm able to surf the internet anywhere where there is Sprint service...works great! I'm also able to surf the internet wirelessly using my Sprint Treo 755p (Palm PDA smartphone) along with PdaNet installed in my netbook. PdaNet is a 3rd party software developer from June Fabrics, and will turn my Treo 755p smartphone into a modem, thereby giving my netbook (or any laptop or desktop computer) internet access. I've also used the WiFi capability on my Samsung NC10, and this too works well for wireless internet. I've also installed AOL AIM instant messenger, and this works just fine. I recently installed Skype, but I haven't had a chance to try this out with anyone yet. What is my biggest gripe about the Samsung NC10? I would have to say the mousepad. It takes some getting used to the mousepad, as it's a bit too small, and plus the single button for doing both right and left clicks takes getting used to. I need to do some tweaking on the mousepad controls to make it more to my liking. If not for this minor gripe about the mousepad, I would give this netbook 5 stars instead of 4. If I could give 4 1/2 stars, I would probably do this too. My other minor gripe is that the screen lid is overly tight, and it requires both hands to open the laptop lid/cover. My left hand is holding down the bottom of the netbook and my right hand is opening the screen...that's how tight the screen lid is! Is this normal? As an aside, the other day, I inadvertently rotated the entire screen to the right side by accident. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to get the screen back to right side up. I'm talking about the entire desktop screen got rotated to the side. I ended up calling my local retailer that sold me this netbook, and the salesperson told me to simultaneously press the Control, Alt, and Up arrow key in order to get the screen rotated back to the normal orientation. If you were to instead press the Right arrow key, the entire screen gets rotated to the right, and conversely, if you press the Left arrow key, the screen gets rotated to the left. This drove me nuts for 15 minutes trying to figure out how to un-do the screen rotation! By the way, I will qualify my computer experience by saying that I'm pretty computer saavy, having owned numerous desktop and laptop computers over the past 15 years. I can still remember my earliest laptop purchased 11 or 12 years ago that cost $6,000 for a Toshiba Tecra 700 model! Why did I purchase this particular Toshiba model? Because the next closest competing model by IBM cost $8,000 at the time! Wow, has prices come down over the years! Imagine buying a Samsung NC10 netbook for only $450.00 a decade ago! Even as recently as 3 years ago, I had purchased a Sony Vaio VGN-TX670p laptop (with 11" screen and built-in optical DVD disk drive) for over $2,500.00!! Would I do this again? Heck no! Granted the Sony VGN-TX670p laptop does include an optical disk drive built-in, and has a larger screen at 11", and is only 2 1/2 pounds, but the Sony model costs an arm and a leg, and a few fingers too, given today's prices! I actually compared my Samsung NC10 against my 3 year old Sony VGN-TX670p, and the size dimensions and weight are very similar. My Sony laptop has 1.5 GB of memory, but I swear the thing is pretty slow in processing speed, and sputters pretty often especially when multi-tasking. My new Samsung NC10 with only 1 GB of memory easily beats my 3 year old Sony model in speed in almost every respect. Granted, my Sony laptop is loaded down with software and is 3 years old (also running Windows XP), but the Sony laptop was always relatively slow in processing speed, even when it was brand new. Whereas, my Samsung NC10 is very speedy and responsive brand new out of the box. As a matter of fact, I would say that my Samsung NC10 is pretty much as responsive and fast as a late model 17.1" Toshiba Satellite laptop I recently bought from Circuit City 6 months ago for $929.00 on sale (also running Windows XP). You might ask, why do I have 3 different laptops? (Samsung, Sony, Toshiba). Because I keep the large Toshiba 17.1" laptop stationery at home (the monster weighs 9 pounds), my portable Sony 11" laptop stays at work, and my new Samsung NC10 is my "disposable" carry-around laptop to and from different locations. Even though I have many software programs loaded into my Samsung NC10 laptop, I intentionally have virtually no important or sensitive information installed (such as contacts, account numbers, names/addresses, etc). I intentionally keep my Samsung netbook free of all personal information just in case it were to get lost or stolen, which is something I'm always worried about. Plus at only $450, the netbook is not something that will break the bank and can pretty easily be replaced quickly. Conversely, both my Sony and Toshiba laptops have all my sensitive information loaded, and this would cause me grief if it were to be lost or stolen, hence I don't like to carry around these particular laptops due to personal information contained within. Lastly, the included Samsung case/cover is pretty much nearly useless. I have a hard time even slipping the Samsung netbook into the included case/cover because it's such a tight fit. I ended up buying a CaseLogic 10" carry case (with carry handles) for about $30 from a local store, and this works fine, although I wish it also had shoulder straps. I'm considering buying an extra battery (white color), does anyone know where I can order one for the Samsung NC10? Is it even available?

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Review

Bought my Samsung NC10-14GB Netbook primarily as a second computer for travel,as well as when the primary computer is already in use. It works perfectly. It takes a few minutes to adapt to the slightly smaller keyboard, but that is an easy trade-off when you note that the machine weighs less than 3 pounds. The battery easily lasts more than 6 hours (have not pushed it to limit), and the screen resolution is so sharp that the smaller size is not an issue in most applications.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Top Quality

I bought this for my wife and she loves it. Have no complaints whatsoever about the product.

I did just want to call out something that I for some reason overlooked when netbook shopping. They frequently do not come with an optical drive (CD / DVD / Blueray) - this NC10 included. While it may seem obvious to some for others this is something to be wary of if you do not own an external USB one.

E.g., the manner in which you would reinstall the OS (or various drivers) is with the CD's provided with the computer. CD's which you of course cannot use unless you have an external optical drive.

Further, if you happen to own software that you've purchased for other machines you won't be able to install that software unless (again) you have an external optical drive.

Just something to be aware of for those who don't own an external optical drive and are thinking about purchasing this (or any w/o an optical dirve) netbook. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

This is an amazing computer. Some of the reasons I have chosen the Samsung NC10 are larger display, 160 GB hard drive, proven Windows XP, upgradable to 2 GB of RAM which I did but most important, the battery life. I can go for 7 hours on one charge, using internet phone, charging my cell phone if needed, plug in a projector using the external VGA when needed. Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Best Quality

I bought the black one just in case. It looks great.

Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Just purchased this netbook for a trip to Thailand. Our intent was to have a portable computer that would make it easy to blog, skype, and otherwise stay in touch w/ friends and family while on the road.

In a sentence: this is one fantastic little machine! Coupled w/ a padded CaseLogic LNEO-10 Neoprene caseCaselogic LNEO-10 Ultra-Portable Neoprene Notebook Sleeve (Black) it was light, efficient, and easy to use. We got good battery life out of the 6-cell battery, the case is solid, and the near-full size keyboard was comfortable. The touchpad sensitivity is good, but I wish the surface was larger as it was too easy to hit the vertical scroll area when navigating the mouse. The built-in camera is great and provided exceptional viewing/recording for video calls.

All in all, great little machine. I highly recommend it.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 6 Cell Battery, XP Home) Blue

I have several other laptops including a 13.3 inch Toshiba. The Samsung is clearly my favorite. Great battery life, nice keyboard which allows for touch typing, LCD is clear and non reflective.

Con: Does not come with a DVD Decoder so you cannot, even if you have an external DVD player, play DVD movies. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

A very well package fast notebook! Should have given it a 5 Star, excerpt that it didn't come with a DVD Drive and needed to be a little lighter. But compared to the rest of note-books in the market place, I find no rival. This is the One! Portable also. Now do your self a favour, Go get-One!

This is a replacement for the first netbook I purchased, an Acer Aspire One. The Acer died after 28 days. The Samsung NC10 is one amazing netbook, best I have tried. Great keyboard, fast, quiet (the Acer was very noisy), and as a bonus---NO crapware installed from the factory! I installed a 2meg RAM chip to replace the 1meg from the factory. The only fault I can find with this computer, is that the speakers have very little volume. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Low Price Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I tried an ASUS EEE netbook but was not impressed with the quality, speed and touchpad functionality. The Samsung NC10 netbook meets all of my needs. It is fast, the keyboard is easy to type on and the battery life is around 5 to 6 hours due to its 6-cell battery. It boots very quickly. I use it mostly while watching tv but its light weight and size makes yanking it out of my briefcase at the airport scanner much easier.

The only small complaint I have is that the mousepad could stand to be a bit bigger as it is easy to run out of real estate when moving the cursor around. However, I do really like the scroll area on right side of the pad and the pinch function (makes font size bigger or smaller).

Overall, I would highly recommend this laptop over the cheaper netbooks out there.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Save Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I did a very extensive comparison of the features of netbooks and chose the NC10 (in black) because: 1) the battery life is rated at 8 hours, even with heavy applications it lasts 7.5 hours; 2) the solid state disk drive is more stable than drives that have spinning components; 3) the keyboard is 93% the size of a standard keyboard and I needed this because I touch type; 4) the screen is 10 inches plus which is the right size; 5) it is VERY easy to change the "screen RAM" from 1GB to 2GB and Samsung makes this easy by providing an easy to open screw off panel on the bottom of the computer; and 6) it weighs 3 lbs. and fits on a classroom desk (I am taking some courses and this is perfect for using in class). The NC10 lasts so long I often take it to work without the power cord. Also, if a 12 cell battery comes out later, the battery life could double!

One of the most important features to me is the trackpad setup. Many netbooks try to squeeze in the trackpad by putting the left and right click buttons on the LEFT and RIGHT which makes them VERY hard to use. The NC10 has the clickbar immediately below the trackpad like any standard laptop which makes it something familiar and easy to use.

A few tips: I got the case from Amazon.com, and the 2GB Screen RAM upgrade (it's really easy to install, REALLY - just unscrew the rectangular panel on the back - you can find instructions on the Internet showing how to do this). I also bought an EXTERNAL DISK DRIVE to run CD based software.

I currently run this software on my Netbook: Microsoft Office 7; Sharepoint; Outlook; Photoshop; Adobe Reader; Macafee security software (a trial setup comes with the computer); Adobe In-Design; and several other large programs. I use my Netbook to write papers for classes, to resize photos and images for documents including reports and brochures. None of these programs slows down the computer speed. I routinely check my AOL and Outlook accounts, very quickly. This computer has replaced a much larger portable laptop I've been using.

Yesterday I used the computer all day long to take notes in a conference. After a FULL DAY of notetaking, with the computer on all day, I still had more than 4 hours remaining on the battery. The secret is dimming the screen and setting the energy saving settings to "1" which is minimum (when you type or interact with the computer, the screen brightens). I am now confident in my NC10 to use it to write documents for publication including a book manuscript. I highly recommend it and suggest you look at the NC10 before buying any netbook. If you get one, I'm sure you'll confirm the features I mentioned and oh, one more thing, at under $500, the price is great.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Discount Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

My search for a netbook was all by chance. It started when my 4 year old HP desktop started showing me the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). Before I decided whether I was going to get it fixed or not, there was a "demo" of the ACER 8.6" netbook at Wal-Mart. So, I took a look at it and figured for the price (about $300) it would be a great stopgap solution and, not having a laptop, it would be nice for travel because of it's size. Being the consummate research shopper that I am, I investigated my options on the net. Amazon's the perfect place because of price and Free Super Saver Shipping.

Already long story short, I reduced my options to the ASUS EEE and the Samsung NC-10 (I discarded the thought of getting the Acer because it probably would have been too small; 8.6" screen). They both have similar features, but I ultimately chose the Samsung mainly because I had never heard of the Asus brand.

So, finally, here's the meat of my review.
Likes: Compact, but not too small (10.2" screen is not too much of a strain on the orbs). Keyboard is not too noticeably small (easier to type the numbers because they are closer). Three USB ports come in very handy, although I did run out of ports and had to connect my Power Sentry USB hub. I have also used the monitor connection to connect it to my 21" monitor, so that came in handy as well. Performance wise, I really can't notice any slowdown in speed in comparison to my HP which had 1.5GB RAM and an Intel Pentium 4 processor. I was on the fence about the blue or white and opted for the white, which I'm happy with because it's actually easier to see the keyboard (plus it'll be easier to see the cool stickers I'm going to put on it). I haven't really used it too much unplugged from the external power, but when I have, I was able to get about 5+ hours from the 6 cell battery. Pretty lightweight (under 3#?). WiFi seems to work pretty well, although I've only used it at home with a wireless g router.

Dislikes: When typing (like this review) it's easy to accidentally touch the touchpad which moves the cursor. Which has been a nuisance because you start typing in other places or open pull down menus. The speakers aren't much to write home about since they're under the unit itself. But they sound pretty good if you cup your hands under each one. LOL. No codec/decoder to play DVD's. So, if you're going to attach an external DVD Ram, like I did, you're going to have to do something about that. I'm no techie, but my solution was to download the "VLC player" which was free. It's kinda quirky to get it to play DVD's but it works. The part I'm really disappointed about is, I wish I had followed the advise of another reviewer on the initial setup of the NC-10. He/she said that when you first turn it on, you have the option of how you want to partition the harddrive. Like I said, I'm no techie, but apparently there are several options for partitioning. I've read that you can either choose to use all 160GB with no backup, use 117GB with 25GB backup (It doesn't eqaul 160GB because some memory is used for other resources), or take the default partition; 142GB split equally, which is what I chose and regret doing because I only have 71GB out of the advertised 160GB. I believe it is a one shot deal so make your choice wisely. And if you do chose the full 160GB, better back it up externally in case the BSOD pays a visit to your NC-10. =]

Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase having had it for about two weeks now. I would recommend a wireless mouse when using it at a desk to make things easier. I bought the Logitech V220 Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks (Black). I also got a slim DVD-RW since there's no other way for me to load music or software to my netbook.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheapest Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

What stands out among the other netbooks in Samsung NC10 is a great keyboard (size and feel), a non-glossy screen, and almost laptop size. In fact, I am pretty much using it in place of my old laptop. It does cost more than the $300 specials, but the difference is worth it to me.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheap Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

The small size and light weight, almost full-sized keys, sharp screen and powerfulness of the Samsung NC10 made it an excellent decision for my needs. In addition, unlike the Acer Aspire, the Samsung's design makes it a snap to add a 2GB RAM card (which I did but I'm not sure if I even needed to). While the Samsung is on the higher end of the netbook price range, in my opinion it ouclasses its competition in almost very way. The only nits I have with the NC10 is that I would have preferred a bigger touch pad and higher quality acoustics. However, even with my large fingers the touch pad is satisfactory and the sound quality is okay (although if you're planning to use the Samsung a lot to listen to music, you might feel a bit differently than I do). Lastly, I think it is important to point out that these nits are characteristic of all of the netbooks that I researched prior to deciding on the Samsung.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Buying Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

The Samsung NC-10 is just perfect for what it was designed for. Instead of a lengthy review I will give a couple pros and cons on this product.

Pro's:
- Weight (just right to lug around anywhere)
- Three USB ports
- Bluetooth
- Price
- Keyboard size. Almost feels like a regular key board unlike smaller models.
- Battery Life, I get about 5 1/2 hours on normal operation.

Con's:
- Mouse, I chose a bluetooth mouse to replace it and not take one of the USB ports.

I increased the memory to the max of 2g and the performance has been excellent. I plan on using this machine for all of my home computing needs. The keyboard is a good size for my large hands. Very little heat generated when using the machine on my lap. I am very happy with my purchase. I enjoy the portability, the built-in bluetooth and wireless capability, as well as the 3 USB ports and one SD card slot. And, let's not forget the six-cell battery which gives me 6 hours of continual use. This has come in handy for me on several different occasions. I highly recommend this product.

This stands out among the other netbooks for its attention to functionality. The keyboard is terrific, and comfortable for touch-typing. The one drawback I've noted in a week of use is that the boundaries of the touchpad cannot easily be felt, so one's finger can easily slide beyond the touch pad.

UPDATE after a few weeks--I really like this netbook and have been using it a good bit of the time as my primary computer. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Where To Buy Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I realized I needed a new computer about a month ago and since I am a student a wanted a small one for easy portability. I was tempted by the new MacBooks, but a 1300 price tag drove me away. For a couple weeks I read up on the Dell Mini 9 reviews and the HP Mini 1000 reviews. I was all set to buy the Dell when all of a sudden I found that Samsung made one. I am SO glad I did! Not only did it win the Net-book of the year award for 2008, every review I read was at least four stars. (With the exception of the environmental crazies over the silver nano). I ordered mine on Tuesday and thanks to Amazon prime I got it Wednesday. Although I have only had it a day I would recommend it to any and everyone! The Samsung recovery is awesome, very easy to set up. SO FAST!! It downloaded MS Office in less than five minutes still runs fast after the install. I brought it to work today and turned it on at 8 AM, worked on it until 11, put it in sleep from 11-1:30 and then worked on it until four and there was STILL an hour and a half left!! (I did have the WIFI turned off as my office doesn't have wireless, might have made a difference). I was a bit worried about the trackpad, but I haven't had ANY problems, although I do have extremely tiny hands! It works perfectly with Skype as well. The case it comes with shouldn't be your only case...but it works fine if you are just carrying it in a purse. I did not install the 2GIG memory and it still is MUCH faster than my two-year-old dell insipron 1505.
Overall I have NOTHING to complain about this, i love it and i think you will too!
(Just a bit of advice-get the white if you are wanting a nice, clean computer at all times as the black, blue, and pink WILL attract fingerprints!)Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery This instant

I bought the Samsung for my wife and the Eee PC 1000HA for myself so I'll compare:

Summary: you can't go wrong with either one.

PROS: The Samsung has better style and a better battery. Also the keyboard is bigger and feels like it's better quality. Also the international warranty and more international name recognition is important for me. Obviously it wins for bluetooth also although you definitely pay for it. Less smudgy than the Asus.

CONS: I like the fact that the Asus keyboard is tilted towards you, makes typing more comfortable. Also the power cord on the Asus has an elbow plug, which makes it more space-efficient and comfortable. I like that the screen hinge on the Asus is stiffer, the Samsung feels like it's going to fly open or slam shut.

Bottom line, they're both great. As a do-over I would probably buy two Samsungs. But we'll see how the next generation turns out.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I'v had this netbook for two months now. Amazon is the best price around. fast service.
My NC10 has no "screen blotches" as reported with others. ran a video test to make sure. computer runs great, and a great battery life. installed a 2gb ram module. did it make it blazzing fast, of course not. but it did make a considerable differnce. tweeked win xp for more speed and installed a 320gb 7200rpm hard drive. this is a great little machine. surfing the web plenty fast, ipod or mp4 mov, runs great, photo editing with MS digital suite 10, plenty fast. Itunes plenty fast. great wireless reception. the only slow aspect is converting dvd to mp4 and vice versa, hey you can't have it all. great looks, decent processing. I also removed the Samsun logo on the cover its just plastic letters with adhesive, and place a laptop skin in its place. Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Get it now!

Like R. Hill, I upgraded my nc10 the day it arrived. Along with it, I ordered a 2GB SODIMM and a 320GB 7200RPM hard drive. I have been in computers and networking since the early 80s, so I have plenty of experience. Before computers, I was in electronics repair.

After unboxing and turning the nc10 on, I completed the Windows XP Home setup, giving the entire 160GB to the C: partition. I read that some reviewers had trouble with this, but I didn't have any. Before upgrading anything I wanted to be sure that everything was working out of the box.

After the initial setup, I was ready to upgrade. I used Apricorn's "DriveWire" to connect the 320GB drive to a USB port, and their EzGig II software to clone the original drive to the new drive, expanding the C: partition to 320GB in the process. After this, I disassembled the nc10 and installed the replacement hard drive and upgraded memory. The system booted without a hitch and I was able to upgrade XP Home to XP Pro in place.

This is an excellent buy for the price. I haven't run across anyhing that I haven't been able to run. It's not blazing fast, but a machine like this isn't supposed to be. I would recommend this to anyone needing a low cost, easy to carry laptop, but don't let your expectations exceed the hardware. If you're doing something like editing pictures (which I do occasionally), set the power mode for full performance. Yes, you'l use the battery faster, but your tasks will be done faster as well.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I looked at a few laptops online before deciding on this one. What won me over is the almost full size keyboard and battery life. I am extremely happy with this netbook. It is my take everywhere netbook around the house and weekend trips. After the first weekend, I had no problem parting with my regular sized laptop (15.4" screen) when taking off for the weekend. I have two teenage kids, and this a great size for taking notes in the car resting on a big text book. The other laptop would have been too big and difficult to work with in the car. Its sleep and hibernate function work great and it boots up from these states quickly and without a problem. I was hesitant on getting blue, hearing about finger prints and wondering if it was too "cheap" looking. But I'll have to say, I love the blue from the moment I got it. Yes, you'll see fingerprints - but not enough to even bother me at all. The only possible negative is the touch pad. It is hard to navigate using it when browsing the net. I tend to work in the dark, early morning hours and the scroll bar on the touchpad is almost impossible to find. However, given all the other positives about this netbook, it doesn't warrant giving this less than a 5 stars. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Decide Now

The first thing I noticed after opening the box was that the Samsung NC10 actually looks like a serious computer, and not a My-First-Laptop like some other netbooks. The smaller keyboard is taking some getting used to, but for the most part, this thing is great.

It comes out of hibernate in less than 10 seconds, has great battery life without an extended pack, runs most apps just as quickly as my desktop (granted, I haven't installed anything with a larger profile than OpenOffice yet), and has great wireless connectivity.

I'm sure most netbooks deliver the same practical features, but there's just something about the Samsung that feels more substantial than the others.

I'm very happy with my purchase.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Every tech. detail and serious consideration has been enumerated and explained several times in these reviews, so I am just putting my mark of approval on this netbook... I have been using mine for three weeks now and absolutely love it! Recently replaced the RAM with a 2GB card, and am loving it even more... The few negative aspects that have been brought up are valid points, but as far as I am concerned, are not nearly as severe in reality... I bought the Samsung NC10 last week and so far it has been a neat little machine. Inspect the machine very closly. I had to return the first one because of damage to the hinge. It was hard to see but I think someone broke it and returned it as new. It also had marks where the battery slides in, but it was packed up really well. The second machine was perfect, nothing wrong and a great color.
I downloaded office and some other software for editing photos and so far everything has worked fine. Playing a DVD as we all know is not possiable without downloading a decoder as I found out. I bought the External LG slim DVD rewriter and installed the associated software. DVD's work just fine now.
One of the issues I'm running into is finding a wireless support network. I have no idea which is the best for coverage and speed.
The other issue is the machine does seem to produce some good heat where you place the hands when typing.
I also cant seem to adjust the screen resolution to higher then 1020x600.
Im still awaiting the 2G upgrade and will install that along with the 320 external hard drive for photos and movies.
All in all its worth the money, but make sure a netbook is what you need and want. If you need a full size laptop dont get this, you'll be disappointed. Fortunitly my home computer is grossly over sized in memeory and options so what i cant do on this I just move the file.
Four stars only because of the first bad machine. Who ever returned it the first time, "Shame on You" this should have been a five star review.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

After a few months of reading reviews about of all of the positives and negatives that come with netbooks, I decided that it was time to take the plunge and get the NC-10. This little bad boy is nice. Sleek, compact, fast and comfortable. The keyboard is absolutely perfect. All of your keys are there where they're supposed to be. It feels completely natural when you're typing. The screen is bright and crystal clear with keyboard buttons that let you adjust the brightness levels. The fan is extremely quiet and there is even a hot-key (shortcut) on your keyboard that lets you run it in silent mode (turns it off until it rises to a certain temperature) I've never had to use it because it's perfectly quiet by default. This netbook is very speedy, boot up times are great and you can significantly improve them by removing McAfee and installing another virus protection software (I recommend Nod32). Bluetooth is an added bonus. I haven't had any problems at all except for a slight adjustment to the small track pad. If you don't mind carrying around a small bluetooth mouse with you, you can do that as well. The track pad really works great once you get the hang of it, but there was a learning curve for me.

I couldn't believe how long the battery lasts on this machine. I watched the clock when I first started using it and counted down six and a half hours before it got to thirty minutes left, then I charged it back up. Keep in mind that I was using the laptop the whole time, when I wasn't on it I had downloads running, just to test how long it would last in use. I was worried about the screen size at first. I thought it would be too small and viewing websites would be a hassle. I thought wrong. The text isn't too small and it does not hurt your eyes at all. My vision isn't the greatest and I'm still able to view everything perfectly. A lot of people have recommended putting your browser in full screen mode to view things perfectly or hiding your start menu bar, but I've found it to be very nice the way it is. Can't forget to mention the webcam either. It's there if you ever need it and the picture quality is really good for 1.3 Megapixels. I've named her 'Sammy' (yeah, not very creative, I know). This netbook is a real eye catcher with the glossy black outside, simplistic 'SAMSUNG' logo on the front, nice shiny chrome trim around the outside and flashy blue LED lights on the front side. I'm glad I purchased this netbook, it was worth every penny! I just wish I would have gotten it sooner, now I can't live without it.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I had resisted the purchase of a netbook, but when I read the review of the Samsung NC-10 I simply had to have one. I found it to be everything I'd expected and more, what with its bright screen and tactile keyboard. The touchpad is rather small however, and not being a big fan of them anyway, I opted for a tiny USB mouse instead. The battery life is quite long, although it spends most of the time plugged into A/C current. I'm sure the 1 Gig of RAM would have been sufficient, but I added the 2 gig chip just because. Having traveled with a heavy 17" laptop in the past, the NC-10 will be a joy to transport!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
